String of Rubies (scientifically known as Othonna capensis and often called "Ruby Necklace" or "Pickle Vine") is a fast-growing, trailing succulent native to South Africa.

Care RequirementsLight: Thrives in bright, direct sunlight for \(\ge 6\) hours a day.

The vibrant ruby-red and purple colors are a stress response to intense sun. In lower light, the plant will revert to a standard green.

Soil: Requires a fast-draining potting medium, such as a standard succulent or cactus mix combined with extra perlite.

Water: Water sparingly. Allow the soil to dry out 100% between waterings to prevent root rot.

Overwatering is the most common cause of plant decline.

Temperature: Needs to be kept in warm conditions (15°C to 27°C). It is not frost-tolerant and must be protected from freezing temperatures. Tropical plant.
